Imagine suffering from a severe spinal cord injury from a heartfelt community effort to construct a health post for women and children—this is a harsh reality for Mr Peter Ndambi. Peter dedicated his time and effort to help build a health post for women and children in the Bakwa community to ensure access to essential medical care for his community. Tragically, an accident left him with a severe spinal cord injury, requiring urgent surgery. For over two years, Peter has remained hospitalized in Bamenda, the Northwest region of Cameroon, relying solely on his family for support and living in a deplorable condition. On May 6th, 2025, the LISUDEV team met with Peter’s family at the Ngomgham neighbourhood, Bamenda, where he lives under terrible conditions. During the visit, he shared the pains, hardships, and suffering he is currently enduring. Their resources are depleted, and his urgent medical needs remain unmet. They can no longer afford the bills and food. Your generosity can be the turning point that saves Peter’s future, giving him the chance to heal and reclaim his life.
The problem
Peter, a selfless community member, suffered a spinal cord injury while volunteering to build a health post that would provide healthcare to vulnerable women and children in Bakwa. He underwent spinal cord surgery in 2023 at the Bamenda regional hospital and remains hospitalised with no financial means left to support his continued treatment. His family has exhausted all available resources, and without further medical care, Peter faces irreversible consequences.
